My Wife and I have been considering emigrating for many months now and recently there have been some developments. I have been unable to secure work for a number of months now and I feel I am starting to get a bit stale on the job front. IT is a fast moving business, not only do the jobs move abroad fast, but the technology also moves on with updates and changes to technology. My wife’s law firm has recently made cutbacks and is in the process of letting a number of people go. She doesn’t think she’s in the first group much to our relief, but now I’m not so sure that’s a good thing. I mentioned that moving to Ireland could be an option over the weekend, so at work Sherry, my wife looked on the net and found the most beautiful cottage in the middle of the countryside. It’s small but is tastefully decorated and set in an acre of land with apple trees and herbs growing- it even has a stream running through the plot! Being close to a river and lake also I may have to take up fishing again, and even camping while I’m at it. It even says pets are allowed and we’ve wanted a dog for ages!
In Ireland there is far less taxes as well - over here in England we have council tax, water rates, television licence… and the list goes on. Over there in Ireland none of the above exist, so you don’t have to worry about tax debt collectors knocking on your door when you don’t have enough money to live. Also its very family friendly in Ireland, you get tax breaks if you have children. Over here its hard to get by with kids unless you live in the benefits system. Also, I’m sure that the education system is better. Need I go on?!
